This work was inspired by the way in which ancient peoples communicated via stone tablets. Thin grooves on the stone’s surface, suggesting lines of text, originate from opposite ends of the stone. These channels interact and overlap in a dialogue of texture and form, a conversation in physical matrix of the stone.

The impression made from the stone’s surface creates a record of the artist’s interaction with the material, as well as a legible document — a physical recording of a conversation.
