EROSION (2014)
Relief print from wood (Ink, wood, paper)
42” x 51” (107 x 130 cm)
This print pays tribute to both the physical and invisible forces which shape the landforms upon which we live. The image simultaneously contains a multi-layered mound, and a pulsating vortex. As one studies the print’s surface texture and physicality, they may find their gaze to be silently pulled inwards to a space behind and beyond the print itself.
Printed from thirteen layers of wood, the inked form gradually builds in density, a geometric abstraction which is reminiscent of a topographic map. Each layer is rotated slightly to give the print a sense of motion, further connecting to the ways in which all things on this earth gradually change with time.
