VOID (2015)
Screen print (Ink, paper)
15” x 22” (38 x 56 cm)
In the case of these prints, a void is not an empty or lacking space. Rather, it is one brimming with unlimited possibilities and creative potential, simultaneously empty and complete. Visually, each contains both presence and absence, and connects to both Earth and Sky.
The stone texture is a literal connection to the earth, while the circle being an oculus which contains the heavens. To some, it is a cloudless sky. To others, it’s the full moon surrounded by clusters of stars in the night sky.
The stone texture is a not a direct impression taken from a stone’s surface. Instead, it is a screen-print of a pixelated image of basalt stone. Thus, it contains a subtle tension between modern technology’s rendering of an ancient material from beyond time.
