MANOA RAIN (2019)
Sumi ink, watercolor, acrylic, indigo pigment on paper
40” x 30” (105 x 77 cm)
This painting celebrates the comforting nightly rain that falls in Mānoa Valley in Hawai’i. The black, linear brush strokes create a ridgeline suggesting the jagged cliffs which define the valley. This mountain ridge is further accented with green and blue paint reminiscent of the lush greenery and the falling water which nourishes it.
