SUISEKI (2016)
Basalt
Various Sizes. Largest: 7” x 9” x 14” (18 x 23 x 36 cm)
Named after the Japanese tradition of stone appreciation, this body of work focuses on the manipulation of small boulders. Each stone is dissected and reconfigured to create a sense of movement, growth, and expansion.
With a quiet voice, each sculpture tells the story of its incredible journey through time: living through moments of violence and chaos, as well as millennia of stillness, solitude, and peace.
