SEASON STONES (2019)
Basalt, indigo pigment, sumi ink, acrylic, steel
Each sculpture: 7” x 4” x 21” (18 x 10 x 53 cm)
The annual cycle of the changing seasons is one of the most profound instances of change which affects our planet. Moved by the timeless nature of this sequence, I created memorials focused on each. Having lived both in places with and without seasonal changes, I have always been captivated by the distinct feeling which each season possesses, and the embellishments and accents on the sculptures’ surfaces reflect this energy.
Perhaps ironically, each stone in this series was sourced in Hawai’i, a place which is known for its lack of these four traditional seasons.
